Now that most of the snow has melted and the name of the mountain no longer applies, we decided to take a shot at climbing Snow King. Stopped about half way and switched to photography mode and it got late. So we'll try again tomorrow maybe....
As you head east on Gros Ventre Road tracking the Gros Ventre River, you eventually crest a hill and this is the view that greets you from the other side.
Stopped at this turnout and saw these two lovely ladies enjoying a spot of tea.
Between the snow melting and a little plowing assist from the town of Jackson, the roads were clear enough to open the Southern Entrance to Yellowstone National Park today. So with almost no summer visitors around yet, we pretty much had the park to ourselves. Perfect weather, iconic views and breathtaking wildlife encounters marked an amazing day. Last week the lake was covered in ice, but a week of warm weather has deep blue water starting to appear.
