For this shot, I just more or less closed my eyes and pointed the camera at the sun allowing it's auto exposure function to fend for itself. Naturally, in self-defense, the camera squinted and nearly shut its lone eye as well. I bring this up only to point out that normally I would have just deleted the resulting overexposed image, but since I had just installed the new (and free) Adobe Photoshop app for the iPhone, I decided to see if the exposure could be corrected. Sure enough, with a single swipe across the photo, this well-crafted app coaxed an interesting shot out of my amateurish experiment. Highly recommended.
