Between the snow melting and a little plowing assist from the town of Jackson, the roads were clear enough to open the Southern Entrance to Yellowstone National Park today. So with almost no summer visitors around yet, we pretty much had the park to ourselves. Perfect weather, iconic views and breathtaking wildlife encounters marked an amazing day. I forgot it was Opening Day today. While walking the dog on our usual trail, I noticed this guy standing in the middle of the creek with something wild -- clearly in the awesome category -- on the business end of his line. By the time we met up with him, he had this beautiful brown trout landed, had come ashore and was ready for presentation. I offered to snap a shot and email it to him, to which he immediately consented with a surprising amount of enthusiasm. "This is the biggest brown I have ever caught, thank you, thank you, thank you."
Heading to storage to get my gear now.
